ACHIEVEMENTS

CURRICULAR & EXTRA CURRICULAR
Co-curricular and Extra-curricular activities during last
year were numerous. It is in the nature of UIT to do
not only different things with excellence, but also
to do things differently. Glimpses of some events of
2004, which keeps us miles ahead of others are :-
VLSI Course for students:- An in-house
two-month VLSI course was conducted for 40 students.
Workshop on Robotics and indl. Automation:- On
27th March 2004, organized jointly by UIT and IEIMP
Centre. Presided over by VC, BU. Guest of honor and
distinguished experts. Participation by students of
20 engineering colleges of MP The event was marked
with inauguration of robotics lab in UIT and display
of latest robotic equipment by manufacturers. Two
technical sessions and a grand finale with quizzing
session.
Nav-Aayam 2k4:- A technical festival spreading
over two days (20th-21st Apr 2004) was jointly
organized by UIT and CSI, and was an instant success
with large number of engineering colleges which
participated.
Highlights were:-
1. Expert lectures by Mr. D. Sen (GM, BHEL Bhopal)
on Virtual Private Network
2. Mr. Uday Billore (Technical Head, Reliance) on
Recent Trends in Communication
3. Sonal Desai (D-Link) on Wireless LAN Technology
5. Mr. Rajeshwar Singh (RedHat) on Linux.
35 papers were presented on various aspects of
computer and communication technologies. An on-line
gaming contest during the festival provided brain
teasing entertainment to participants with lots of
prizes.
Workshop on Embedded Technology and MATLAB:-
A two-days state-level workshop was organized by
IETE students' forum at UIT. Around 300 participants
got immensely benefited with a number of experts and
specialists from the field available to share to
their rich experience and knowledge of eminent.
Educational Field Visits:- Under the banner
of the SAE International chapter, the UIT students
visited Eicher Tractors, Mandideep, Central Farm
Equipment Testing and Training Centre, Budni and
Central Instt. Of Plastic Engg. & Technology,
Bhopal.
Guest Lectures:- Experts from CIPET, Bhopal
delivered guest lectures on "Plastic Engineering".
Participation by our Faculty in events outside
UIT:- Intellectual Property Rights, Surface
Engineering, Bio-Management, Mobile Communication,
Pattern Discovery in Bio-informatics, Energy and
Environmental Technology, Geo-technical Earthquake
Engineering, Robotics and Industrial Automation,
Entrepreneurship Development, Developing Pedagogical
Skills etc.
Student Awards:- Best Car Model Award
(All-India level) won by the SAE team at IIT Delhi
Participation by our students in events outside
UIT:-
1. A project on Conditional Access Security System
(based on Face Recognition Technique), recognized by
Satyam.

2. A project on BMP to AVI Conversion, received well
by local Industries.
3. A project on Load Independent Control System,
accepted and adopted by Indian Railways.
4. A Technical Paper on Water Quality Management
System, won award at IIT, Mumbai
5. Major Papers at seminars and conferences like IIT,
Mumbai, IIT Roorkee, SATI Vidisha.
ACADEMIC GLORIES
1st July 2004 was a memorable day in the life of 182
students, who successfully completed their
undergraduate course. Ms. Hindu Verghese of UIT
stole the limelight, securing the top rank in
Barkatullah University merit list. 42 students
earned honors (75% and more aggregate marks) and 109
students secured first division. In all, 23%
students got honors and 60% students got first
division An excellent performance by any yardstick.
GATE Qualifiers (2002-2003)
Eighteen students have qualified in GATE examination
with good percentile.
The Big CATs (2002-2003)
Eight students have qualified and admitted in
various IIM's THE
SPORTING ARENA
 13th to 18th March 2004 was a week of fun and joy
for all UlTians. It was the week of annual sports,
in which 90 gold medals and equal number of silver
medals were won in different individual and team
games. Cricket, football, volleyball, badminton,
table tennis, chess etc... you name a game and it
was played.. .and the students proved that they had
the talent in plenty. Sports week only prepares UlTians to participate at the university, state and
national levels. Though we do it with the spirit of
participation, but often rewarded with recognition.
On 27th Feb 2004, UIT (BU) won a state level
inter-college volleyball tournament. In another
state-level competition, University Institute of
Technology (BU) team won MP State Senior Male Indoor
Cricket Championship 2004.
